"Café con Leche is a beautiful story of a young woman discovering her roots. I really enjoyed reading and learning about Afro-Latino culture and the stories that are attached with it. I learned a lot of new factual information about Latino and Black culture and I want to learn more! I felt as if I could relate to Yoe’s story, with my journey as a bi-racial Asian woman. As a fan of Yoe as a dancer, I am now a fan of Yoe as an author. I recommend this book to anyone who feels lost in their racial identity and to feel empowered of their roots, no matter where they come from."

"Yorelis transparency and willingness to immerse her readers into a vulnerable subject which is awareness. Most individuals like myself, have paid no attention or received backlash for the appearance and features that we were given; but never understood. I thank you Ms. Apolinario for your honesty, patience and perseverance to create something thatRead more about Yorelis transparency and willingness is this special and well needed not just for myself but for anyone else that chooses to pick up this book."

"Café Con Leche was such an amazing read! Yoe has a way of setting the scene that makes you feel as if you were there no matter the era or place. She has a way of giving such detail about the characters and relationships that it makes you feel like you know them personally! Each chapter even more interesting and eye opening than the last. As a Black women, it was fascinating for me to learn about the perspective of someone who is also Black but with a completely different up bringing and childhood. I cried, laughed, and learned throughout the journey of reading Yoe’s story. 10/10 would recommend."

"What an amazing read this was! I was drawn in from the beginning, as the descriptions of people, places, & feelings took hold of me and made me feel very familiar with them.
Being a part of the diaspora as an African American woman who is currently within the search of the truth of my own lineage, but not always having the knowledge I wish to obtain- I always have the desire to learn. I don’t feel as though I was taught as much about my black roots & the black roots of my entire community- especially regarding the Afro Latinx community. After reading this work, I left with a deeper understanding but also a more open heart. Yoe’s story and journey are not only inspiring, but set such a clear path to discovery for so many of us that just want to further connect with who we are. I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to peak into so many layers of who this brilliant woman is and all of the threads that were woven by her ancestors to create the beautiful tapestry that is her life and legacy.
I am happy to recommend this book to any and everyone! ❤️"
"Yoe is a phenomenal writer. She delivered such a powerful and honest piece here. I recommend this book for those Afro-LatinX communities and individuals around the world. We are black and we have history, be proud of your cultura! It is insane how much my life correlates with her in this book. I hope that everyone gets inspired by this art piece and continues to grow in their journey. Thank you Yoe for opening up and sharing such an important part of your life with us. Gracias!"
